Masai Mara National Reserve

The crown jewel of Kenyan safari. The Masai Mara is one of the most famous wildlife destinations on earth — home to the Big Five, vast open plains, and the iconic Great Wildebeest Migration when 1.5 million animals cross the Mara River between July and October.

Beyond the migration, the Mara offers exceptional year-round game viewing: resident lion prides, leopards draped in fig trees, cheetahs sprinting across golden grass, and enormous elephant herds.

🐘 Elephant Country
Southern Kenya · Near Kilimanjaro

Amboseli National Park

Amboseli is famous for two things: the largest free-ranging elephant herds in Africa, and the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro — Africa's highest peak — rising 5,895m above the plains on clear days. The contrast of red dust, green swamps, and snow-capped mountain is unforgettable.

The park's ecosystem is built around seasonal swamps fed by Kilimanjaro's snowmelt, attracting thousands of elephants, buffalo, hippos, and vast birdlife throughout the year.

Northern Kenya · Ewaso Ng'iro River

Samburu National Reserve

Samburu is Kenya's wild north — dramatic, remote, and home to rare species found nowhere else in Kenya. The "Samburu Special Five" — Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx — are the stars of this arid paradise.

The Ewaso Ng'iro River bisects the reserve, drawing crocodiles, elephants, and vast predator populations to its banks. Combined with a cultural visit to Samburu Maa communities, this is one of the most rewarding off-the-beaten-path experiences in East Africa.

Lake Nakuru National Park

Lake Nakuru is one of Kenya's most compact yet rewarding parks — famous for its flamingo-lined shores, rhino sanctuary (both black and white rhino), and leopards that lounge openly in the fever tree forest unlike anywhere else in Africa.

The park sits in the Great Rift Valley and combines the lake ecosystem with acacia and euphorbia woodland. It's an easy stop between Nairobi and the Masai Mara, and a favourite for first-time safari visitors who want big variety in a small area.

Tsavo National Park

Tsavo is Kenya's largest wildlife area, split into Tsavo East and Tsavo West. Famous for its red elephants — coated in the park's rich red volcanic soil — Tsavo feels wild and untamed in a way that more popular parks sometimes don't. This is frontier Africa.

Tsavo East is vast and open, excellent for game drives. Tsavo West offers volcanic landscapes, the crystal-clear Mzima Springs (where you can watch hippos underwater through a glass panel), and Chyulu Hills views towards Kilimanjaro.

The Great Wildebeest Migration

Every year, over 1.5 million wildebeest, 400,000 zebra, and 200,000 gazelle travel in a continuous loop between the Serengeti in Tanzania and the Masai Mara in Kenya — following the rains and the grass.

The most dramatic moment is the Mara River crossing — when thousands of wildebeest hurl themselves into crocodile-infested waters in a thundering, chaotic surge. Witnessing this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Peak crossing season in the Masai Mara is July to October. PMK Tours can position you in the right camp at the right time — our local knowledge makes all the difference.
