Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 β€” Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park

Day 1
Pick-up from Nairobi hotel/airport. Drive northwest to Lake Nakuru (2.5 hours). Afternoon game drive in the park β€” look for flamingos on the alkaline lake, rhinos in the forest, and Rothschild's giraffes on the hills. Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge.

Day 2 β€” Full Day at Lake Nakuru

Day 2
Full day of game drives within the park. Morning drive along the lakeshore, afternoon to the forested areas for leopard and rhino. The park's rhino sanctuary protects both black and white rhino. Evening at lodge.

Day 3 β€” Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara

Day 3
Morning drive west to the Masai Mara National Reserve (approx 3 hours). Arrive by noon for a packed lunch. Afternoon game drive in the Mara β€” the sheer density of wildlife here is staggering. Dinner and overnight at your Mara camp.

Day 4 β€” Full Day in Masai Mara

Day 4
Full day in the Mara. Morning and afternoon drives. Look for lion prides on the move, cheetahs hunting on the plains, leopards in the fig trees, and huge elephant herds. If visiting during the migration season (July–October), you may witness one of nature's greatest spectacles β€” thousands of wildebeest crossing the Mara River.

Day 5 β€” Masai Mara | Cross into Tanzania | Serengeti

Day 5
Morning game drive in the Mara. After brunch, drive to the Tanzania border at Isebania. Cross into Tanzania and continue to the Serengeti National Park (approx 3 hours from the border). Afternoon arrival and evening game drive in the Serengeti. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti camp.

Day 6 β€” Full Day in Serengeti

Day 6
Full day exploring the Serengeti. The park is home to the world's largest lion population. Cover different zones β€” the Seronera area is known for predator sightings, while the north holds the famous river crossing sites. Keep your camera ready all day. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti camp.

Day 7 β€” Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Day 7
Morning game drive in the Serengeti before driving to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (approx 3 hours). En route, visit the Olduvai Gorge β€” the 'Cradle of Mankind' where some of the world's oldest human fossils were discovered. Arrive at the crater rim at sunset for breathtaking views. Dinner and overnight at crater rim lodge.

Day 8 β€” Descent into Ngorongoro Crater

Descend 600 metres into the crater floor for a full day of game drives. The Ngorongoro Crater is arguably the best single game-viewing destination on Earth β€” 25,000 large animals in a 260 kmΒ² enclosed ecosystem. Almost guaranteed: lions, elephants, buffalos, hippos, black rhinos, and flamingos on the soda lake. Ascend at sunset. Dinner at crater rim lodge.

Day 9 β€” Ngorongoro to Arusha | Fly or Drive to Nairobi

Day 9
Morning at leisure or optional nature walk with Maasai guide. Drive to Arusha (1.5 hours) and continue to the Kenya border at Namanga. Re-enter Kenya and drive to Nairobi (approx 3 hours from the border). Overnight in Nairobi hotel (own cost) or airport drop-off for early departures.

Days 10–11 β€” Optional Extension or Return

Days 10–11
Optional add-on days available in Nairobi β€” visit the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, Giraffe Centre, Karen Blixen Museum, or take a day trip to Hell's Gate National Park for cycling and hiking. Or depart from Nairobi for your onward journey. PMK team will assist with all arrangements.
