Your dates, the right region and time on the plains

Serengeti National Park Safari Packages

Picture several mornings on the Serengeti plains, with a camp chosen for your dates and time to follow the wildlife experience you came for. PMK connects your Nairobi start with a practical Tanzania route, so camp location, transfer days and game drives work together instead of becoming separate decisions.

Best fit

Travellers who want an extended plains safari, predator interests or a carefully planned migration trip.

Suggested stay

Consider at least three nights in the Serengeti when your schedule allows. Extra regions need extra time.

Key booking choice

The region and camp location matter as much as the park name, especially for migration interests.

Why the Serengeti deserves time

Serengeti National Park is known for its extensive plains, varied habitats and the Great Migration. Resident wildlife provides reasons to visit beyond a single migration event. A safari should give you time to explore rather than depend on one promised river crossing or predator sighting.

For your holiday, several nights at a well chosen base create room for different mornings and changing light. PMK helps match the camp region to your dates and interests. The aim is a safari you can enjoy each day, with the practical choices made before departure rather than an expensive park name attached to a rushed journey.

Central, northern and southern safari interests

Central Serengeti is a useful region to discuss for a general wildlife safari. Northern regions are often considered for migration and river interests during part of the year, while southern ecosystem areas are associated with calving interests early in the year. These are broad planning patterns, not a fixed wildlife timetable.

Ndutu lies within the wider Serengeti ecosystem and includes areas outside Serengeti National Park. Your itinerary should identify the actual camp and activity area, because access and fees can differ. PMK checks the region, dates and route together. Combining distant regions without adequate nights can spend too much of your holiday on transfers.

Serengeti safaris from Nairobi

There are several ways to connect a Nairobi start with a Serengeti safari. A Tanzania focused road itinerary can be planned through Namanga and Arusha before the northern circuit. A combined Mara and Serengeti route may use Isebania and Sirari, with a substantial transfer day.

Ask PMK to compare a road plan with confirmed flight connections where suitable. Flights can reduce some road travel, but still require immigration arrangements, baggage planning and camp transfers. Your written proposal states any guide or vehicle handover. There is no reason to assume that one vehicle simply drives across the Mara river into the Serengeti.

Migration safari planning that starts with your dates

If migration is your priority, begin with the month, available nights and the experience you most want. Calving interests and river crossing interests call for different region discussions. Herd movement responds to conditions, so the calendar is a guide to planning rather than a booking guarantee.

PMK can compare a camp suited to the intended region with a more general Serengeti stay. Ask how much travel is required between the camp and the proposed drive areas. A famous camp in the wrong place for your route may serve you less well than a suitable base that leaves more time for exploring. No quotation can guarantee a crossing.

Camp comfort, daily pace and optional experiences

Choose accommodation around location, room comfort, meals and your preferred atmosphere. A permanent lodge and a seasonal camp can provide different stays. Confirm the camp’s operating dates and the room arrangement for your party rather than assume every property is open in every season.

Tell PMK if you want a honeymoon pace, family breaks or photography time. Balloon flights in the Serengeti are separate operator experiences unless explicitly included, and require their own current quote and suitability check. The Mara balloon starting price does not apply automatically in Tanzania. Your proposal will distinguish included drives from optional additions.

Combine Serengeti with Kenya or the northern circuit

Serengeti can be the centrepiece of a Tanzania safari with Tarangire, Lake Manyara and a separately planned Ngorongoro visit. It can also form part of a combined Masai Mara and Serengeti holiday. The right choice depends on your total nights, arrival airport and tolerance for transfer days.

PMK’s existing 11 day Kenya and Tanzania itinerary is a starting point for discussing both countries. For a shorter holiday, a Tanzania focused route may give more wildlife time. Use our Nairobi hub to compare the options, then ask Kariuki and the PMK team for a day by day proposal matched to your priorities.

What PMK brings to your safari

Your priorities shape the route

We start with the experiences you want, then compare accommodation and nights that support them. You can discuss the tradeoffs before choosing.

Clarity before commitment

Your proposal identifies the planned services, inclusions and optional costs. Wildlife expectations and practical arrangements are explained honestly.

Less planning for you to carry

Kariuki and the PMK team bring the route, accommodation and transfer questions into one conversation, so you can focus on the holiday you want.

Safari prices and what to compare

Request a quote for your dates, party size and preferred accommodation. Compare park entries, transport, meals, room basis and optional activities alongside the total. Seasonal availability and fees can change, so your written proposal is the place to confirm current prices.

Frequently asked questions

Can I book a Serengeti safari from Nairobi?

Yes. PMK can plan a road itinerary or compare separately quoted flight connections. The final proposal identifies the route, immigration arrangements, transfers and any vehicle or guide handover.

How many Serengeti nights should I consider?

At least three nights is a useful planning recommendation where your dates allow. A visit to several distant regions needs additional nights and transfer time.

Can a Mara and Serengeti safari guarantee migration crossings?

No. Herd locations and crossing events are unpredictable. A combined route increases the settings you visit but does not guarantee a particular wildlife event.

Can I add a Serengeti balloon safari?

Ask PMK for a separate operator quote, availability and transfer arrangements for your dates. Do not assume a Kenya balloon quotation applies in Tanzania.
