Lamai Serengeti is built into the Kogakuria Kopje in the far north of the park, its two small camps totalling just twelve rooms tucked among the granite boulders for privacy and shade. Scrubbed wooden floors, canvas-fronted walls, and locally sourced furnishings give the rooms a relaxed, understated feel, while their elevated position among the rocks opens onto sweeping views toward the Mara River valley.
This is prime Great Migration territory: between roughly July and October, huge columns of wildebeest and zebra gather along the nearby Mara River before attempting the crossing, drawing crocodile and big cat activity to the riverbanks. Even outside the crossing season, the kopjes and river valley support resident lion, leopard, and a rich variety of plains game across the open northern Serengeti.
Because Lamai sits so close to the Mara River, PMK typically recommends it for guests hoping to witness river crossings, with drives timed by your guide around herd movements reported in the area. Its remote northern location also makes it a natural stop on a longer Serengeti-to-Kenya Mara safari.
