Make more of every game drive

Your own vehicle. Your preferred safari pace.

A private safari gives your group more say in how the day unfolds. Perhaps you want to linger with elephants in Amboseli, watch a lion pride in the Mara or pause for birdlife around the lakes. Your guide helps shape the game drives around your interests, the wildlife you encounter and park rules.

Enjoy the sighting together

The pop up roof creates an elevated viewing space for observing wildlife and taking photographs while the vehicle is safely stopped. Tell us about camera equipment or specific seating needs when planning.

Travel with your people

Your private vehicle is reserved for your party. Couples, families and friends can enjoy the journey together without joining an unrelated group on the same game drive.

Leave the route planning to us

The PMK team help connect parks, lodges and transfers into a practical itinerary. You receive the proposed vehicle arrangement and safari inclusions in your quote before making a booking decision.

What to expect in your safari vehicle

These are the details worth discussing before you set off. We confirm the arrangement for your selected itinerary so you can pack and plan with confidence.

English speaking guideLocal guidance on wildlife, routes and daily plans. Request another language early so we can check availability and any additional cost.

Comfort starts with the right group size

We carry a maximum of six guests in each safari jeep or van, and every guest has a guaranteed window seat. That means a direct view of the landscapes and wildlife without needing to take turns at a window. Your luggage and photography equipment also need space, so soft bags are recommended.

Larger parties may need more than one vehicle. Tell us about children, mobility needs, bulky suitcases or professional photography gear so we can propose a suitable arrangement. The PMK team will explain luggage space and any additional arrangements before booking.

Before you travel

  • Use soft luggage where possible and keep essential items close.
  • Bring a power bank, charging cables and spare camera batteries.
  • Pack a light layer for cooler early morning game drives.
  • Tell the PMK team about child seat or accessibility requirements in advance.
  • Remain seated with your seat belt fastened while travelling and follow your guide’s safety instructions.

Which safari vehicle suits your trip: Land Cruiser or minivan?

The main difference when choosing a PMK safari jeep or van is your transport budget. Our 4x4 safari van is more affordable than our Land Cruiser jeep and can handle offroad safari tracks. Both offer private travel, a pop up roof and a window seat for every guest. Tell us your dates and priorities, and we will show you the price difference for your itinerary.

Private Land Cruiser safari

Choose the Land Cruiser jeep if you prefer this vehicle style and its higher price fits your budget. Enjoy a private 4x4 safari with a pop up roof and a guaranteed window seat for each of up to six guests.

Private safari minivan

Choose the 4x4 safari van to keep your transport budget lower. Its offroad capability, pop up roof and six guest limit make it a capable safari choice, with a guaranteed window seat for everyone.

Compare before you commit

Request quotes for your dates with the vehicle option identified. The PMK team will explain any price difference so you can make an informed choice without guessing what is included.

Safari vehicle questions

Is my PMK safari vehicle private?

When you book a private safari, the agreed safari vehicle is reserved for your travelling party. Check the vehicle type and arrangement in your written quote.

Does every traveller have a window seat?

Yes. Our safari jeeps and vans carry a maximum of six guests per vehicle, and every guest is guaranteed a window seat. Larger groups travel in additional vehicles so this promise is maintained.

Is a safari van cheaper than a Land Cruiser jeep?

Yes. Our private 4x4 safari van is the more affordable vehicle option. It remains a capable offroader with a pop up roof, guaranteed window seats for up to six guests, cup holders, charging ports and seatbelts. Ask for both vehicle prices for the same itinerary so you can choose where to spend your budget.

Can a safari van handle offroad game drives?

Yes. PMK uses 4x4 safari vans that can handle offroad safari tracks. Your guide assesses current conditions and follows park access rules in either vehicle. Choosing the more affordable van still gives you a capable private safari vehicle.

Do both vehicles have charging ports and seatbelts?

Yes. Both our safari jeeps and vans have charging ports, cup holders and seatbelts. Bring your own charging cables, and tell us in advance if specialist camera equipment needs a particular connection.

Can I request a Land Cruiser instead of a minivan?

Yes. Ask the PMK team for a private 4x4 Land Cruiser quote. Availability and the price difference depend on your dates, route and party size.

Is WiFi available throughout the safari?

WiFi is offered when available and mobile coverage varies. Treat it as an occasional convenience rather than a guaranteed connection in remote wildlife areas.

Can we use the same vehicle in Kenya and Tanzania?

The arrangement depends on your itinerary and cross border operating requirements. A change of vehicle or guide may be needed. Your safari proposal will explain the planned handover and transfers.

Are wildlife sightings guaranteed?

No. Wildlife moves freely and sightings depend on conditions. Your guide uses local knowledge to help you make the most of the opportunities available while respecting wildlife and park rules.
