The lodge is in the heart of Amboseli, built beside a gentle spring with the plains and their wildlife spread around it. The whole design leans on Maasai motifs rather than generic safari-lodge styling, which suits a park whose Maasai character is half the reason to come.
What you are buying in Amboseli is the mountain. Kilimanjaro is usually only clear for an hour or so after dawn and again before sunset, and cloud can hide it for whole days. Being inside the park means you are positioned when the window opens rather than still at a gate.
The lodge runs a reforestation programme that guests take part in directly. Plenty of properties talk about sustainability; comparatively few hand you a sapling. For families it turns an abstract conversation about conservation into something a child actually did, on a specific afternoon, in a place they can point to.

June to October and January to February are the driest months and give the clearest mountain views. This is what you are paying for in Amboseli.
During the rains Kilimanjaro can stay hidden behind cloud for days at a time. Rates drop accordingly — a fair trade if wildlife rather than the mountain is your priority.
