Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge is built on the edge of the Great Rift Valley escarpment, its 67 thatched, circular rooms and gardens positioned to take in panoramic views across the valley floor and lake below. A drop-off infinity pool and bar sit right on the escarpment edge, making the lodge's own grounds one of the best viewpoints over the park.
Lake Manyara National Park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, an unusual behaviour rarely seen elsewhere in East Africa, along with large troops of baboon and the shallow soda lake that draws flocks of flamingo and other water birds when conditions are right. A belt of dense groundwater forest along the base of the escarpment also supports elephant, hippo, and prolific birdlife.
PMK can combine a stay at Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge with the lodge's own walking safaris, canoe trips, or mountain biking excursions alongside standard game drives. It also works well as a first or last stop on a northern circuit route, being one of the closer parks to Arusha.
