Being straight about what this is: Sarova Woodlands is a town hotel, not a game lodge. It sits in Milimani, Nakuru's upscale district next to the State House, minutes from the city centre. You will not hear hyena at night.
What you get instead is air conditioning, a spa, 147 rooms so availability is rarely a problem, and a price well below the in-park lodges. For a family on a budget, or anyone who wants a proper hot shower and a comfortable bed between two hard driving days, that trade is often the right one.
If Nakuru is a single overnight between the Mara and Amboseli, you will be arriving late and leaving early — you are paying in-park rates for a bed you barely use. In that scenario Woodlands is the sensible call, and the money saved goes into an extra night somewhere it actually counts. If Nakuru is a full day of game viewing, stay in the park instead.

As a town hotel it is comfortable year-round and its rates do not swing with the safari seasons the way in-park lodges do.
That makes it a genuinely useful option in July to October, when in-park Nakuru properties are both full and expensive.
