Tarangire Sopa Lodge is built to blend into its surroundings among kopjes and scattered baobab trees inside the national park itself, with 75 spacious rooms and suites arranged around a central lounge, restaurant, and swimming pool. Its in-park location means wildlife, elephants especially, can often be seen moving past the lodge grounds without needing to set out on a drive.
Tarangire is home to one of the largest elephant populations of any park in Africa, with herds concentrating around the Tarangire River during the dry season, alongside good numbers of lion, leopard, and giraffe among the park's distinctive baobab-studded landscape. The area is also known for tree-climbing pythons and an unusually high density of nesting raptors.
PMK frequently uses Tarangire Sopa Lodge as a comfortable base for exploring the park's game-rich river circuit, with drives arranged by your guide to make the most of the dry-season elephant concentrations. Its facilities also make it a practical option for families or larger groups on a northern circuit itinerary.
